Welcome to the OSilas Art Studio! Our goal of the program is to feed the imagination process of each student in a fun and rigorous atmosphere of visual learning. Artists of all ages, aspirations and abilities explore creativity and master their new skills in workshops and classes taught by our dedicated faculty of artists and art educators.
January 2021 Virtual Mini-Sessions
Announcing virtual workshops at home for children and teens in the month of January! Each three week mini-session workshop is taught by a qualified instructor in a fun and informative format. Workshops are offered five days a week in January and the descriptions are below. A simple supply list will be emailed upon registration. Workshops are $80 (full three week mini-session).
WINTER VIRTUAL MINI-SESSION WORKSHOPS (each $80 per three-class session)
Mondays (JAN 11,25 FEB 1) for Ages 9-14 from 4:30-5:30 with Shaun O’Hanlon. Winter Drawing & Sketching workshop. Join this enjoyable session and apply new knowledge to hone your skills!
Tuesdays (JAN 12,19,26) for Ages 13-18 from 5:30-6:30 with Jessica Cioffoletti. For our teens! Workshops will feature sessions on surrealism, food & world art.
Wednesdays (JAN 13,20,27) for Ages 5-8 from 4:00–5:00 with Jackie Meier. Artistic discoveries with Matisse, Picasso and Van Gogh via art projects and virtual tours.
Thursdays (JAN 14,21,28) for Ages 9-12 from 4:30-5:30 with Nelle Davis. Exciting winter 3-D projects using a variety of materials and formats.
Fridays (JAN 15,22,29) for Ages 5-8 from 4:15-5:15 with Dara Kane. Fun Friday! Sophisticated Arts & Crafts class that will be engaging and fun-filled for your child. Weekly projects will vary.

The OSilas Art Studio is planning to run weekly in-person classes in accordance with New York State guidelines, ranging from Elementary School-Aged Studio Art to Honors Middle and High School Art. All instructors have ample experience in both Art Studio and Zoom class instruction should classes need to transition to online instruction. Winter/spring semester classes begin in February and run to early June. Please see below for a list of the classes and times of our winter/spring program.
FEBRUARY 8 TO JUNE 14
ART STUDIO 1: 3:15-4:30PM AGES 7-10
Students will begin to explore different painting and drawing techniques using different mediums. This hands-on study of iconic movements in art includes Pop Art, Cubism, Realism, Collage and so much more. Students will create their own version of modern masters!
ART STUDIO 2: 4:45-6PM AGES 11-14
This class is for the more serious art student that wishes to improve their painting and drawing skills. The curriculum of Art Studio 1 will be presented on a more advanced level. No pre-requisites necessary, just the desire to create!
FEBRUARY 2 TO JUNE 1
ART CLUB JUNIOR 3:30-4:30PM AGES 5-7
Creativity is the important component for Art Club Jr. students as they begin to master new skills and techniques. This multi-media ‘beginners’ class is a formal introduction to basic drawing, painting, printing, 3-D art and much more! Studio procedures and proper use of materials are stressed.
ART CLUB SENIOR 4:45-6PM AGES 8-11
As drawing and painting skills continue to evolve, Art Club Sr. students develop as artists. Personal expression is encouraged in this dynamic multi-media class. Students work with various drawing and painting mediums, inks for printing and wire and clay for 3-dimensional projects. Art principles are incorporated into the curriculum as are contemporary and historical references. We provide the inspiration and quality instruction; all students need is the desire to learn and have fun!
FEBRUARY 3 TO JUNE 2
YOUNG MASTERS 3:15-4:15PM AGES 5-7
Does your young artist enjoy going to Galleries and Museums to see the Old Masters and the Contemporary Artists? Each week, a different artist’s style and work will be explored with a visual presentation. Students will then create their own masterpiece. Projects could include collage, mobiles, drawings, and more!
ART AT HOME – TBD AGES 7-11
Join other young artists at home via Zoom in this fun new format. Artists will work on will sharpening their skills and advancing their drawing techniques with the help of a talented instructor. Class time and schedule will be determined by sign-up.
FEBRUARY 4 TO JUNE 3
IDEA FACTORY 1 3:15-4:30PM AGES 7-9
This is the class for students who want to explore different materials and learn ways to take good ideas and make them into great art! We will use pencil, paint and clay among other materials to bring those ideas to life. 3-D projects will be made as well as traditional ones using various Studio materials. Come with ideas and explore!
IDEA FACTORY 2: 4:45-6PM AGES 10-13
Delve deeper into your creations as this class moves from an introduction of creating novelty art projects to a more advanced study of them! Students will continue to explore the variety of ways their ideas can be used in art while sharpening their skills and mastering design concepts. Hone your technical and observational skills using different mediums. Learn how proportion and balance, harmony and rhythm come together to make beautiful art. Interesting ideas are welcome!
JANUARY 30 TO JUNE 5
MIDDLE SCHOOL HONORS: 10:15-11:30AM
Students must be referred by Art Faculty member or Program Director. Previous studio work is suggested. This class is for the serious art student wishing to work on fundamentals of drawing, painting, composition and color with guidance from an experienced secondary school art instructor. All materials are included.
HIGH SCHOOL HONORS: 11:45-1PM
This class provides an opportunity for independent study and portfolio work for the serious art student. Each class includes formal project demonstration and individual instruction throughout the class. All materials are included.
PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS AVAILABLE ON A LIMITED BASIS!
Due to space constraints, a very limited number of slots for private/semi-private in-person lessons will be available. A minimum of 6 sessions are required in order to reserve a slot.
Please note that the health and safety of our students, instructors and the Concordia College community is our priority. Students and families will be required to follow Concordia College’s safety protocols, including limited class sizes that allow for social distancing and the wearing of masks at all times on campus.
