Dear Friends and Art Lovers,
Great things are happening at OSilas Gallery this year, and we invite you to become a vital part of what we do by becoming a member. Please join or renew your membership today to show you value the exceptional art exhibitions and art education that we bring to our community.
This year’s exhibitions will open with the phenomenal Young, Gifted, and Black: The Lumpkin-Boccuzzi Family Collection of Contemporary Art, featuring works from up and coming young African American artists, along side established artists such as Mickalene Thomas, Henry Taylor and Kerry James Marshall. Our winter exhibition of photographer Cal Swanson’s black and white photography of the denizens of New York City circa 1975-1985 will be stunningly beautiful and intriguing. The spring will see us open Lines with Power and Purpose, an exhibition of political cartoons from early to mid-20th century that features the work of many Pulitzer-prize winning cartoonists.
In addition to our three major exhibitions, we support the area’s young aspiring artists by curating for them their own exhibitions: the highly-regarded StArt regional high school art exhibition (now in its 14th year!); the gallery’s annual pARTners exhibition, an art installation created by special needs students at local high schools in collaboration with Concordia College students; and exhibitions every winter and spring of work created by students at OSilas Art Studio, the professional art studio on the campus of Concordia College where our professional art instructors provide high quality art instruction to local residents.
Finally, every year we bring top-tier art lectures to the Gallery. Whether it is a curator from The Met or The Guggenheim, an art professional from Sotheby’s or the former head of the photo unit at the United Nations, our lectures are extremely well attended and enjoyed by the community.
If you like what we are doing and want to support OSilas Gallery & Art Studio, please become part of our membership. Please click on the link below to find out about the benefits of membership and how you can join. I hope we can count on your support!
