Luncheon Lecture by Peter Hastings Falk

March 8, 11am-1pm

Come to OSilas Gallery on March 8 for our second luncheon lecture of the season to hear art historian Peter Hastings Falk tell the compelling story of Arthur Pinajian. You will also learn about his other significant rediscovery projects and how those masters were saved from slipping through the cracks of art history to become appreciated today.  In addition, you will hear an insider’s view on valuing a discovered artist such as Pinajian.

Mr. Falk is the curator of The Pinajian Discovery: An Artist’s Life Revealed, which is on show in OSilas Gallery through March 17.

Mr. Falk’s massive three-volume opus, Who Was Who in American Art was lauded by critics as “the most significant research tool ever published in the field,” and won the Wittenborn Award for the best art reference book published in North America. Many art reference tools followed, including his extensive Exhibition Record Series. At the same time he pioneered in publishing indices of auction price results as Founding Editor-in-Chief of ArtNet before becoming the U.S. Editor of As a curator of rediscovery exhibitions he has written dozens of monographs. Today, his Artist Discovery Group is composed of a Curatorial Board of noted art historians and critics who identify artists who for various reasons have been unfairly marginalized or forgotten by successive generations.

A light lunch will be included, and there will be time for questions and answers.
